Minutes of February 14, 2012 Planning Board Meeting

The meeting was convened at 7 p.m.
New Business:
Lot 13 - Blandforde: Lot abutting Schoolhouse Road (Lot 13 in Blandford) was presented by Kim Bergland and Property Owner to ask that Tolland grant permission of access to Schoolhouse Road. Maps have been exchanged and there was a question re. Right of access – As there is a conflict of information between Tolland and Blandford whether the lot touches either or infringes upon state land at edge of Schoolhouse Road. Bergland presented a letter from the State which shed some light upon the problem.
All this information to be presented to Jesse Kalmelis for resolution.
Morrison Property - Colebrook River Road: Ralph Morrison presented the idea of a house being built on his property on Colebrook River Road behind the DPW, and that the house would then be considered a home occupation for the Yankee Septic Company who would house 2 tankers and 200 porta-potties, in existing garage and/or property. After an exhange of questions re. the home occupation, it was found that 2 employees ran the business, two tanker trucks were used and then further summer help would be employed.
The Board noted that commercial use was not allowed in Tolland's Zoning By-law and even though there are some commercial enterprises permitted with Special Permit, a business of this nature was prohibited in all current zones in Tolland. Refer to VII-11 of K. Home Occupations; subsection d.
Request denied unanimously by the Board. Meeting adjourned at 8:15pm
